ONE entry PER classroom. Teacher will determine which is the best essay to submit
on behalf of the class.
Submission dates begin on Sunday, June 1, 2008 and end on Friday, October 25, 2008.
Entries received after October 25 will NOT be eligible.
Essays must be accompanied by a high resolution (300 dpi) digital photograph of
the class and student author.
All entries and photos become the property of the International Wolf Center and
may be published in any format. All rights reserved. Photos and essays will NOT be
returned.
Essay must be submitted in accordance with the eligibility requirements and format
guidelines or it will be disqualified.
Entries must be written in English, typed and double spaced. No more than 400 words
in length for ages 10-14 and no more than 600 words in length for ages 15-18.
Entry in your own language along with an English version is encouraged.
The font must be Times New Roman, Helvetica or Arial with a font size of 12 pts.
Entries must be typed in Microsoft Word or saved as a Microsoft Word document.
Essay must have proper grammar, spelling and punctuation, with no errors and
organized in structure with an introduction, a body and a conclusion.

Complete the following essay
question(s) according to age group:
Classroom with students 10-14 years of age - 400 words or less
- Observe the Center's wolf pups via the Wolf Watch Cams,
or in-person and describe their specific different behavior from domestic dogs.
Classroom with students 15-18 years of age - 600 words or less - Complete BOTH
questions
- Observe the Center's wolf pups via the Wolf Watch Cams,
or in-person and describe their specific different behavior from domestic dogs.
- Identify two major challenges to wolf recovery in your country/state/province and suggest solutions for each one.

The winning classroom will see their work published in International Wolf magazine
and online at www.wolf.org.
ONE first prize winner in EACH age category will be chosen. Winners
will receive a free distance
learning program for the class, one year free membership to the International
Wolf Center for the classroom , an interactive wolf ethogram CD, wolf bookmarks,
and other prizes for each student. The individual author will receive an International
Wolf Center hat and t-shirt.
The following are requirements for a distance learning program:
- ISDN (H.320), IP (H.323) or E164 connection capability
- Point-to-point connections only at this time
- Recording of programs not permitted
- Maximum 40 students per program
If you do not have the technology or ability to access the technology to receive
a distance learning program, an alternative comparable educational first prize will
be awarded.
ONE second prize winner from EACH category will be chosen. Winners
receive a one year free membership to the International Wolf Center for their
classroom, an interactive wolf ethogram CD, wolf bookmarks and other prizes for
each student. The individual author will receive an International Wolf Center hat.
Winners will be notified by phone or email no later than 12/15/2008.
Judges will be International Wolf Center wolf experts.
